Well, well, well! Big cousin B is in the place to be! Tradewinds Espresso is a super cool and trendy cafe run by some beautiful and cool as a cucumber antipodeans on Whiteladies Rd. The cafe operates on a basis of RULES ARE RULES baby (don't dare ask for a food substitution!) and if you want wifi you can DO ONE you aren't welcome here!
That aside the vibe is pretty chilled and the food is bloody nice ya drongos - original, tasty and pricey.
LOVE the chai latte - delicious, creamy, spicy but too small! The same applies to all their hot drinks. Delicious but totally pretentiously stingy portions.
Now on to the food. So far have tasted 1) the scotch oats - generous, delicious, filling and amazing value for money. 2) poached eggs on toast - overpriced eggs on toast 3) bhudda bowl - bloody overpriced bowl of lettuce leaves 4) french toast - FUCKING DELICIOUS and unusual, it is an amazing combination of different textures and tastes 5) granola - dull 6) some weird samosas that weren't samosas - basically pretentious and overpriced. 7) and the carrot cake- OMG THE CARROT CAKE.... Mouthus orgasmus! So generous, tasty and basically YUMMY!
The vibe is nice and relaxed but not uber friendly. Often the staff are fairly off and on occasion I've overheard a bit of bitching amongst the ladies, which isn't totes cool. Additionally the lack of wifi is a bit of a statement in this day and age but if you get pissed off with entrepreneurs sitting around on their MacBooks and iPhones in clifton cafes then this is possibly somewhat if a relief!
I do like the decor but to be fair I have pretty pretentious taste! Cool, wooden, stained glass with a lovely little outdoor space that has an open/close roof and heaters to keep you cosy when its cold.
Recommendation wise I would say give it a go, some of the food is delicious although generally pretty expensive. If you have any special food requirements and need substitutions, or want to sit in and do the cafe/work thing I wouldn't bother.
