After a fabulous yoga session at Bristol City Yoga I headed on up to The Crafty Egg for a delicious breakfast. Belly rumbling I perused the menu for something delicious to purge me of my hunger. The menu choices seemed limited but looked delicious. Being a vegetarian your options are always reduced but there menu really had minimal choice.

The complacent barista stayed huddled behind the coffee machine and eyed me idly as he waited for me to make my selection from the chalked menu high up on the wall. I opted for the mixed pancakes, ordered a large soy latte and sat in the window to watch the world go by... it is Stokes Croft after all!
The atmosphere in the cafe seemed very relaxed and comfortable. There were very few people eating and some quiet cool music playing softly over the speakers.
The waitress whipped me up a latte in a super cool cup with a saucer and brought it over to me. I can't say she was particularly friendly but she wasn't unfriendly either. She didn't clear the plates and cups that were next to me though, simply meandered off leaving me to sip my drink amongst the dirty crockery.
The latte itself was nice but a little too milky, not much coffee flavour at all but I did enjoy it.
Not long after that my breakfast was bought out. The pancakes were presented nicely on an enamel plate and I was pleased to see there were plenty of them as I was ravenous!
As I inspected the plate I was surprised to see lashings of syrup drizzled around the side as well as a generous shake of icing sugar. I loaded my fork to take a big bite and almost choked on the icing sugar dust.

The pancakes themselves were well made and fluffy and there was plenty of them but there was far too much sugar and not nearly enough fruit to go with the pancakes.
There was a small mound of fruit on top and in-between some layers there were tiny bits but overall it was way more pancake than fruit and very sweet to boot! Felt like some creme freche or yoghurt would of taken the sweetness off and given the dish a bit of an edge.
I have to say I liked the interior of the cafe, nice relaxed environment with cool art on the walls and a relaxed funky vibe. The staff seem very laid back and too cool to be excited about having customers coming in, seemed a bit flat but not hostile.
Would I go there again? Maybe to chill and have a coffee but I wouldn't race back it was pretty underwhelming overall.
